Alexandre Bughin is a Belgian cellist who recently graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp in Justus Grimm’s class. He is currently continuing his studies at the Musikhochschule in Münster with Matias de Oliveira Pinto. Alexandre was a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra between 2017 and 2018, giving chamber music performances and playing in the orchestra under the baton of renowned conductors. He played in many ensembles and orchestras in Belgium including Young Belgian Strings, Les Basses de Bruxelles, Antwerpen Camerata, Opera Royal de Wallonie, Opera van Vlaanderen and Antwerp Symphony Orchestra. He recently won a 1st Prize at the Grand Prize Virtuoso Competition in Brussels and also received a special prize for ‘Best Belgian musician’ of the competition. Alexandre has a great passion for nature and is currently following a course in ornithology (science of birds).
